Risk disclosure
Last updated 16 August 2026
Your capital is at risk
Trading and investing involve risk to your capital. You can lose some or all of the money you commit. Never trade or invest with funds you cannot afford to lose, and never with money required for living costs, debt repayments or an emergency fund.
Leveraged products
CFDs and other leveraged instruments are complex products. Leverage magnifies both gains and losses, and losses can accumulate rapidly. A majority of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Before using any leveraged product you should be confident you understand how it works, how margin is calculated, and what happens in fast markets.
Education, not advice
Everything Jonathan Smith Markets publishes or discusses in educational material is general education. It is not personalised investment advice, not a recommendation to buy or sell any instrument, and it does not take account of your full financial circumstances, objectives or tax position. For regulated financial advice, consult a licensed adviser in your jurisdiction.
We do not manage money
Jonathan Smith Markets does not hold, pool, manage or invest client funds, and does not place trades on behalf of clients. You retain full control of your own capital in your own account with your own broker at all times. We will never ask for access to your trading account credentials.
No performance promises
No result is promised, projected or implied by any part of this website, our emails, or our research. Past performance — ours, anyone else's, or a strategy's — is not an indicator of future results.
Your responsibility
Every decision you make with your money is yours. You are responsible for confirming that any instrument, broker or strategy is appropriate and lawful for you in your country of residence, and for meeting your own tax obligations.
